Enjoyed by canoeists, kayakers and rafters alike, the Nantahala River is one of the most popular rivers to white water raft in the U.S.! You will enjoy eight miles of Class II-III whitewater. Flowing through the Nantahala Gorge, an area revered by the Cherokee Indians. The word Nantahala itself means “middle sun” or “midday sun” in the Cherokee language. With its crystal clear, Class II-III water, the Nantahala is the perfect river to enjoy with family and friends. We offer trips year-round, seven days a week. You can choose between a fully-guided trip, a self-guided trip, guided duckys or self-guided duckys.
Parents: There is a minimum weight limit for children of sixty (60) pounds or seven (7) years old, which is strictly enforced by the U.S. Forest Service. Please make sure your children meet the requirement before the trip to avoid disappointing them on arrival.
FULLY GUIDED RAFTING TRIPS: If you do not have experience on whitewater, are not familiar with the rapids on the Nantahala River, or if you will be rafting with children, a guided trip is recommended. Our guided trips are fully-guided, meaning we guarantee a guide in your raft. Our guides are trained professionals, certified in CPR and first aid, and are committed to making sure you have a great time on the river.
GUIDED DUCKY TRIPS: If you are ready to branch out from a raft, but still prefer the company of a guide, our guided ducky trip is just the perfect choice for you! We offer both individual and group rates for guided trips.
SELF-GUIDED/RENTAL RAFT TRIPS – The Nantahala is not a one-time affair! For more experienced river rafters, you may opt for a self-guided raft and guide yourself down the river. We provide all the equipment, trip orientation and shuttles and you guide yourselves down the river. Group rates available for 12+ whitewater enthusiasts!
DUCKY/INFLATABLE KAYAK TRIPS: The most high-performance raft trip! Duckys are for the adventurous, for the experienced and for those who prefer to go down in a double duck or a single duck/inflatable kayak. This is a great way to test out whether you want to try whitewater kayaking
